Part 2 : The woman’s breath caught.

Her fingers trembled as she stared at him.

WOMAN (barely audible)
“…What did you say?”

The boy quickly pulled out a folded photograph.

He lifted it up.

A younger woman stood in the image… smiling… alive.

The elegant woman’s knees almost gave out.

WOMAN (shaking)
“…Lena?”

The boy nodded quickly.

BOY (urgent)
“She told me to find you before they move again!”

Fear instantly replaced shock in the woman’s face.

WOMAN (grabbing his shoulders)
“Who is ‘they’?!”

The boy looked toward the street.

A dark van was idling at the curb.

Engine running.

Door slightly open.

BOY (terrified)
“The man who says I call him Dad…”

The woman turned sharply.

In the van’s window… a faint movement.

A woman’s hand pressed against the glass from inside.

The elegant woman gasped.

WOMAN (urgent whisper)
“Where is she now?!”

The boy’s voice broke completely.

BOY
“In the van…”

He pointed.

His tears fell fast now.

BOY (final line, trembling)
“She said… if you were late… they’d take my little sister too.”

The city froze.

And the woman started running.
