One ring.
Two rings.
Then—
Voice on phone (urgent): “Sir? We’ve been trying to reach you everywhere.”
The manager frowns.
Manager: “What is this circus?”
The man speaks calmly into the phone:
Man: “I’m in Terminal 3 VIP lounge. I think there’s been a misunderstanding about ownership.”
A pause.
Then the voice on the phone changes tone instantly.
Voice: “Understood, sir. Activating protocol immediately.”
Within seconds, the lounge doors open again.
Three senior airport executives rush in, panic on their faces.
Executive: “Mr. Hayes… we didn’t know you were—”
The manager’s face slowly drops.
Manager (whispering): “Mr… Hayes?”
The flight attendant looks confused.
One executive turns to her.
Executive: “Do you know who this is?”
Silence.
The man finally looks up.
Man: “I built this airport chain. I just wanted to see how people are treated when they think no one important is watching.”
The room goes cold.
The manager starts shaking.
Manager: “Sir… I-I didn’t know—”
The man raises a hand.
Man (calm, final): “That’s exactly the problem.”
He turns to the flight attendant.
A pause.
Then softly:
Man: “You showed kindness when no one else did.”
He then looks back at the manager.
Man: “You’re fired.”
Security steps forward.
The manager is escorted out, speechless.
The flight attendant stands frozen.
She whispers:
Flight Attendant: “I… I didn’t know you were—”
The man gives a small tired smile.
Man: “That’s why it mattered.”
He walks away.
FINAL SHOT:
The sandwich still lies on the marble floor… untouched at first… then slowly picked up by the flight attendant.
