Part 2: The Name That Shocked Everyone

Emma stared at him in confusion.

“Betrayed you?”

The old man slowly turned toward the men in suits.

A dark smile appeared on his face.

“For three years,” he said, “they believed I disappeared.”

Everyone went silent.

One man nervously swallowed.

“Sir… please don’t do this here.”

The old man ignored him.

He reached into his coat and pulled out an old photograph.

Emma looked at it.

Her eyes widened.

It was him…

Standing beside Emma’s mother.

“What…?” Emma whispered.

The old man looked at her with tears in his eyes.

“I knew your mother.”

Emma stopped breathing.

“No…” she whispered.

He slowly stepped closer.

“Twenty years ago, she saved my life.”

Emma’s hands started shaking.

“But that’s impossible…” she said.

The old man looked directly into her eyes.

Then he whispered:

“Emma…”

“…I’m the reason your mother disappeared.”
