Part 2 : The air changed the moment she entered.

Elegant.
Cold.
Familiar.

Daniel’s face tightened instantly.

DANIEL (quietly):
“Isabelle…”

Sophie’s mother’s best friend.

Or at least—what she used to be.

Anna instinctively pulled Sophie behind her.

The woman smiled softly.

But her eyes didn’t match the smile.

ISABELLE:
“I heard there’s been… confusion about the child’s care.”

Sophie frowned.

SOPHIE (softly):
“I don’t know her…”

That sentence hit like a slap.

Isabelle’s smile flickered for a fraction of a second.

Daniel stepped forward.

DANIEL:
“You left this family’s matters three years ago. You don’t get to return now.”

Isabelle tilted her head.

ISABELLE:
“I didn’t leave. You pushed everyone out.”

Silence.

The truth lingered dangerously in the air.

Then Isabelle’s gaze shifted to Anna.

Cold.

Measuring.

ISABELLE:
“So this is her replacement?”

Anna flinched.

Sophie immediately stepped forward again.

SOPHIE (firm):
“She is not a replacement. She is Anna.”

A pause.

The way Sophie said her name carried something deeper than words.

Belonging.

Isabelle noticed it too.

And that made her smile fade completely.

ISABELLE (to Daniel):
“You’re letting an employee replace structure, discipline, order?”

Daniel didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he looked at Sophie.

Really looked.

For the first time in years… he wasn’t thinking like a billionaire.

He was thinking like a father who had been absent too long.

DANIEL:
“No.”

Everyone relaxed slightly.

But then—

He continued.

DANIEL:
“I’m finally seeing who my daughter trusts.”

A sharp silence.

He turned to Anna.

DANIEL:
“You will come with us.”

Anna froze.

ANNA:
“Sir… I can’t just—”

But Sophie interrupted instantly.

SOPHIE:
“She has to stay!”

Her voice cracked.

And that’s when Daniel noticed it—

This wasn’t attachment.

It was fear of losing the only safe place she had ever known.

Daniel reached a decision.

Slow.

Final.

But before he could speak—

Isabelle stepped forward and dropped a single folder onto a nearby table.

ISABELLE:
“Then read this before you decide.”

Anna’s face went pale.

Daniel opened it.

And everything stopped.

Because inside were documents…

that suggested Anna hadn’t “just happened” to be near Sophie at night.

She had been placed there.

On purpose.

And the final line in the file read:

“Target: Sophie Whitmore — emotional attachment monitoring initiated.”

Daniel’s hand froze.

Anna whispered:

ANNA:
“That’s not true…”

But Sophie suddenly looked up at Anna with confusion for the first time.

SOPHIE:
“…Anna?”

And Daniel realized—

The real scandal wasn’t what happened in his absence.

It was who had been controlling it.
