Part 2 : The man closed the SUV door behind him.

Liam felt relief wash over him.

“Dad.”

Victor stumbled backward.

“No… I watched the explosion.”

Liam’s father walked forward calmly.

Tall.

Confident.

Very much alive.

“You watched it,” he said. “But you never checked the body.”

Victor’s hands shook.

“This isn’t possible.”

“Oh, it’s possible.”

The other SUVs formed a circle around the street.

Neighbors peeked from their windows.

Everyone sensed something extraordinary was happening.

Victor suddenly laughed.

“You have no proof.”

Liam’s father smiled.

“Actually, I do.”

He nodded toward one of the SUVs.

A woman stepped out.

Victor froze.

His wife.

The woman he had told everyone died two years ago.

Tears filled her eyes.

“Hello, Victor.”

Victor looked as if the ground had vanished beneath him.

“You…”

“You left me to die,” she said.

The street fell silent.

Liam stared in shock.

His father handed a folder to the police officers who had just arrived.

Inside were photographs.

Bank records.

Recorded phone calls.

Everything.

Victor realized it was over.

As officers moved toward him, he looked at Liam.

All the arrogance was gone.

Only fear remained.

Liam met his eyes.

“You should’ve left me alone.”

The handcuffs clicked shut.

And for the first time in years…

Victor Grant had nowhere left to run.
