PART 2 — The Truth Vanessa Tried to Hide

The sound of breaking glass echoed through the mansion.

Nobody moved.

David stared at Vanessa.

“What does she mean?”

Vanessa forced a nervous laugh.

“She’s a child, David. She doesn’t know what she’s saying.”

But Lily shook her head.

“I heard her.”

David knelt beside his daughter.

“Heard what, sweetheart?”

Lily swallowed hard.

“Last week… Vanessa was talking on the phone.”

Vanessa’s face drained of color.

Lily continued.

“She said, ‘Nobody will ever find out what happened that night.'”

David felt a chill run down his spine.

“What night?”

Vanessa stepped backward.

“David, don’t do this.”

But Lily wasn’t finished.

“I also found Mommy’s necklace.”

David froze.

His late wife’s necklace had disappeared the night she died in a mysterious car accident three years earlier.

“Where?” he asked.

Lily pointed upstairs.

“In Vanessa’s secret drawer.”

David rushed upstairs.

Vanessa tried to stop him.

“Wait!”

But it was too late.

Inside the drawer was the necklace.

And beneath it…

A stack of documents.

David opened them.

His hands began to shake.

The papers revealed that Vanessa had secretly hired someone to tamper with his wife’s car before the accident.

Vanessa burst into tears.

“I never wanted anyone to get hurt!”

David looked at her with horror.

“You killed her.”

Police sirens suddenly sounded outside the mansion.

Vanessa turned toward the back door.

For a moment, it looked like she might run.

Instead, she collapsed to her knees.

As officers entered the house, Lily wrapped her arms around her father.

For the first time in years, she felt safe.

And as Vanessa was led away in handcuffs, David whispered to his daughter:

“You’ll never be alone again.”
