Daniel refused to believe it.
“My wife died at the scene.”
Owen slowly shook his head.
“No… she stood up.”
The garden fell silent.
“I saw her holding Sophie. She wasn’t injured the way everyone said. Then two men in black jackets arrived before the ambulance. They spoke to her, and everything changed.”
Daniel’s heart pounded.
“What men?”
“They told her no one could know the truth.”
Owen handed Daniel a small silver pendant he had hidden for eighteen months.
Inside was a tiny memory card.
“This fell from your wife’s necklace.”
That night, Daniel watched the video stored on the card.
His wife looked straight into the camera.
“If you’re watching this… they lied about the accident. Sophie was never paralyzed. Someone wanted her to believe she was. Trust Owen… and never stop searching for me.”
