PART 2 — THE TRUTH MY HUSBAND NEVER KNEW

The room became completely silent.

Adrian stared at the deed as if the paper itself had destroyed his entire world.

“This… this has to be a mistake,” he whispered.

My father shook his head.

“It isn’t.”

The attorney opened another folder.

“Mr. Vale, every major asset you acquired during your marriage was funded through a private family trust.”

Adrian looked at me.

“What?”

I said nothing.

My father continued.

“Six years ago, Olivia married you because she loved you. She never told you who her father was.”

Adrian’s eyes widened.

“You knew?”

“I knew,” my father said.

“Then why didn’t you tell me?”

My father’s expression hardened.

“Because Olivia wanted to know whether you loved her without knowing what she had.”

I felt tears return to my eyes.

For six years, I had hidden my family’s wealth.

I lived beside Adrian quietly.

I supported his dreams.

I stood beside him when his company was struggling.

I never asked for my father’s money.

Instead, I watched Adrian build his empire.

Or at least, that’s what I thought he was doing.

The attorney placed another document on the table.

“Your company was purchased using funds from the Monroe Family Trust.”

Adrian stared at the papers.

“That’s impossible.”

My father looked him directly in the eyes.

“Your first investment came from my daughter.”

Camille slowly stepped away from him.

“You told me everything belonged to you.”

Adrian didn’t answer.

For the first time that night, he looked terrified.

Then the attorney placed one final document on the table.

“This is the prenuptial agreement.”

Adrian grabbed it.

His hands began shaking.

He read the final page.

His face collapsed.

“What did I sign?”

My father answered calmly.

“You signed away every asset purchased with family money if you ever abandoned my daughter.”

Camille suddenly stepped backward.

“Adrian…”

He looked at her.

She was already crying.

“You said Olivia was leaving with nothing.”

Olivia finally spoke.

“I believed you loved me.”

Adrian looked at me, his voice breaking.

“Olivia, please…”

I looked down at my unborn child.

Then I looked back at the man who had told me I was worth nothing.

“You were right about one thing.”

He stared at me.

“I am leaving.”

A tiny smile appeared through my tears.

“But I’m not leaving with nothing.”

I placed my hand over my belly.

“I’m leaving with my daughter…”

Then I looked at my father.

“…my family…”

My father stepped beside me.

“And the life you never deserved.”

Adrian stood completely speechless as security officers approached him.

Camille quietly walked away.

And for the first time in six years, I walked through those mansion doors knowing exactly who I was.

I wasn’t the woman who had been thrown out.

I was the woman who had survived being betrayed by the two people she trusted most.

And my daughter would never have to wonder whether she was loved.

Because she was.

She was the beginning of my new life.
