PART 2 : Daniel didn’t make it out of the church.

Two police officers were already waiting near the front doors.

That was when I realized Lydia hadn’t come alone.

She had planned everything.

Daniel stopped so suddenly that one of the guests nearly crashed into him.

“Lydia,” he said through clenched teeth, “what did you do?”

She didn’t answer.

Instead, my lawyer stepped forward and handed one of the officers a thick folder.

“Forgeries. Hidden accounts. Insurance fraud. And evidence that he tried to have his first wife declared dead.”

The entire church went silent.

Daniel looked at me.

“Sophia, please. You know me.”

I stared at him.

“No. I knew the man you invented.”

Then the little girl, Emma, walked toward him.

Everyone expected her to cry.

She didn’t.

She simply looked up and said:

“Mom said monsters don’t always look like monsters.”

Daniel’s face collapsed.

The officers took his arms.

But before they could lead him away, Lydia said:

“There’s one more thing.”

She opened her purse and pulled out a small envelope.

Inside was a DNA report.

My stomach dropped.

Lydia looked directly at Daniel.

“You spent eight years telling everyone Emma wasn’t yours.”

Daniel stopped breathing.

Lydia handed me the paper.

Probability of paternity: 99.99%.

The entire room erupted.

His own mother covered her mouth and started crying.

Daniel whispered, “That test is fake.”

Lydia smiled sadly.

“No. But your entire life is.”

The police escorted him outside while phones recorded everything.

And then, as I stood in my ruined wedding dress, Emma walked back to me and slipped her tiny hand into mine.

“I’m sorry I ruined your wedding,” she whispered.

I knelt beside her.

“You didn’t ruin it.”

I looked toward the doors where Daniel had disappeared.

“You stopped it.”

Three months later, Daniel was charged with fraud, forgery, and several other crimes.

Lydia finally filed the divorce papers she had been trying to file for years.

And me?

I never wore that wedding dress again.

But I kept one thing from that day.

The tiny flower Emma had been carrying in her hair.

Because sometimes the person who destroys your perfect day…

is actually the person who saves the rest of your life.
