PART 2: The knock came just after my shift..

Heavy. Controlled. Intentional.

I opened the door.

The same man stood there.

But now he looked completely different.

No confidence. No calm.
Just panic… and exhaustion.

And behind him—

Security.

My heart dropped.

“I need to explain,” he said quickly. “That girl… she’s not what you think.”

I froze.

He swallowed hard, then added:

“I followed her because I recognized her.”

My blood ran cold.

He stepped closer.

“She is connected to my family.”

Silence.

Then he said the words that shattered everything:

“And I think she’s in danger.”

I couldn’t breathe.

Because suddenly… that simple grocery store moment wasn’t kindness anymore.

It was the beginning of something much darker.
