Part 2: The Truth Buried Two Years Ago

Lauren’s face went pale.

“No…” Vanessa suddenly interrupted. “Ethan, don’t listen to him!”

But Ethan wasn’t listening.

Because Clara.

His wife.

The woman he buried two years ago.

Had the same eyes.

The same trembling lips.

The same tiny scar near her eyebrow.

Lauren began stepping backward.

“Noah… sweetheart…” she whispered weakly.

Vanessa suddenly grabbed Ethan’s arm.

“She’s lying! This is insane!”

Then Noah reached into his tiny jacket pocket.

“Daddy… I wanted to show you something.”

He pulled out a folded picture.

Ethan opened it.

His hands started shaking.

It was an old family photo.

Ethan.

Noah.

And Clara.

On the back, written in a child’s messy handwriting:

“Mommy said I should keep this until Daddy remembers.”

Vanessa’s face turned white.

“No…”

Ethan slowly lifted his eyes.

“Remembers… what?”

Lauren began crying.

“I never died.”

Silence.

“I lost my memory after the accident… and when I finally remembered everything…” her voice cracked, “…I came back.”

Ethan stared at Vanessa.

Then at Lauren.

Then back at Vanessa.

Because suddenly he remembered something else.

The night of the accident.

Vanessa was there.

And for the first time…

Vanessa looked terrified.
