Part 2: The Truth Beneath the Waves

Silence swallowed the yacht.

Nobody moved.

Richard stared at Emily.

“What did you just say?”

Emily’s eyes filled with panic.

The boy slowly stood.

“When I was ten,” he said, “my mother gave me a necklace before she died.”

He pulled a small silver key from beneath his shirt.

“She told me if I ever found the Kane family… I’d finally learn why they destroyed our lives.”

Richard looked at the key and nearly collapsed.

“No…”

Emily turned and ran.

Richard chased after her.

“Emily!”

She reached a locked room below deck and slammed the door shut.

But the boy walked forward calmly.

He looked at the key in his hand.

And inserted it.

Click.

The door opened.

Inside were photographs.

Letters.

Hospital records.

And one birth certificate.

Richard grabbed it with shaking hands.

Under Father’s Name, there was only one name:

Richard Kane

Richard looked up at the boy with tears in his eyes.

“You’re my son…”

The boy stared at him.

Then reached for one final envelope on the table.

Written across the front:

OPEN ONLY IF I DIE

He slowly opened it—

And his eyes widened.
