Part 2 : “His name is…”The little girl swallowed hard.

“…Daniel.”

The world seemed to stop.

Daniel stared at her as if he had forgotten how to breathe.

His hands began to tremble.

“Who… who is your mother?”

The girl lowered her eyes.

“Her name is Emily.”

Daniel closed his eyes.

Twenty years disappeared in an instant.

Emily.

The woman he had loved before money changed everything.

The woman he had promised never to leave.

The woman he abandoned when his family threatened to destroy her life if he stayed.

Daniel had spent twenty years convincing himself that leaving her had been the right decision.

But now, sitting beside him, was the child he never knew existed.

“My mommy never hated you,” the girl whispered.

Daniel looked at her, tears filling his eyes.

“She still keeps your old photograph.”

He could barely speak.

“Where is your mother now?”

The girl pointed toward the dark street.

“She’s sick. She’s been waiting for you for years.”

Daniel immediately stood.

“How long?”

The girl hesitated.

“Tonight.”

Daniel froze.

“Tonight?”

“She told me this morning… if I ever found my daddy, I should bring him home.”

Daniel dropped to his knees in front of the little girl.

For the first time in twenty years, the richest man in the city was crying like a broken child.

He gently held her tiny hands.

“I’m your father.”

The girl stared at him.

Then she slowly smiled.

“I know.”

Daniel pulled her into his arms.

And as the rain began falling again, he whispered the words he should have said twenty years ago:

“I’m sorry I took so long.”

But neither of them knew…

Emily had one final secret.

And when Daniel finally reached her apartment—

he would discover that the reason she had waited twenty years…

wasn’t because she wanted him back.

It was because she had been protecting him.
