Across the rooftop, the man in the white suit stopped walking.
Every camera turned toward him.
Bianca closed her eyes.
Sophie looked down.
And Luna pointed straight at him.
“That’s the man my mom told me to find.”
Maxwell stepped away from the stage.
His younger brother, Elliot Hart, had spent years avoiding the spotlight.
He was the quiet one.
The loyal one.
The brother Maxwell trusted with everything.
“Elliot.”
Elliot slowly turned around.
Maxwell walked toward him.
“Tell me she’s lying.”
Elliot said nothing.
That silence was enough.
Maxwell’s face changed.
“You slept with my wife?”
Bianca immediately shouted:
“No!”
Maxwell spun toward her.
“Then explain the babies!”
Bianca’s eyes filled with panic.
Sophie stepped forward.
“It wasn’t an affair.”
Everyone froze.
Maxwell looked at her.
“What does that mean?”
Sophie swallowed.
“Bianca chose Elliot.”
Maxwell stared.
“Chose him for what?”
Bianca screamed:
“Sophie, stop!”
But Sophie kept talking.
“For the embryos.”
Maxwell’s face went blank.
The rooftop went completely silent.
“You’re telling me my wife secretly used my brother’s DNA?”
Sophie nodded.
Maxwell looked at Elliot.
“Why?”
Elliot finally spoke.
“Because she said you couldn’t have children.”
Maxwell’s expression hardened.
“That’s a lie.”
Bianca stepped back.
Maxwell walked toward her.
“My doctors told me everything was normal.”
Bianca said nothing.
Luna suddenly pulled a folded envelope from her dress.
“My mom said this proves why she did it.”
She handed it to Maxwell.
Bianca’s face went white.
“Where did you get that?”
Luna looked at her.
“You left it in my mom’s apartment.”
Maxwell opened the envelope.
Inside was a private laboratory report.
He read the first page.
Then the second.
His hands began shaking.
“What is this?”
Sophie whispered:
“A genetic screening.”
Maxwell looked up.
“For Elliot?”
“No.”
She pointed toward him.
“For you.”
Maxwell stared at her.
Then back at the paper.
His face drained of color.
The report showed something he had never seen before.
A hereditary condition.
A serious one.
Maxwell looked at Bianca.
“You knew about this?”
Bianca whispered:
“Yes.”
“For how long?”
“Four years.”
The entire rooftop erupted in whispers.
Maxwell’s voice rose.
“You knew something about my health for four years and never told me?”
Bianca’s composure finally shattered.
“I was trying to protect the family!”
“By secretly having my brother’s children?”
“They were supposed to be heirs!”
Maxwell froze.
The cameras caught every word.
Bianca realized what she had said.
Too late.
Maxwell stepped closer.
“Heirs?”
She said nothing.
Sophie began crying.
“Maxwell, there’s more.”
He turned.
“What else could there possibly be?”
Sophie looked toward Luna.
Luna held out the second hospital bracelet.
“The second baby wasn’t sold.”
Maxwell frowned.
“You said Bianca sold him.”
Luna shook her head.
“That’s what I thought.”
Bianca suddenly screamed:
“DO NOT TELL HIM WHERE HE IS!”
Everyone froze.
Maxwell slowly turned toward her.
“Where is my brother’s second baby?”
Bianca said nothing.
Elliot looked confused.
“Second baby?”
Maxwell stared at him.
“You didn’t know?”
Elliot shook his head.
“I was told there was only one.”
Sophie covered her mouth.
Bianca began backing toward the elevator.
Maxwell blocked her.
“Where is the second baby?”
Bianca’s eyes filled with tears.
“You don’t understand.”
“Then make me understand.”
She looked toward the giant glass doors leading into the penthouse.
Everyone followed her eyes.
Inside, a nanny was holding a newborn baby.
Maxwell stared.
“That’s the baby you were going to present as mine.”
Bianca shook her head.
“No.”
Maxwell froze.
“What?”
Sophie whispered:
“That baby isn’t one of the twins.”
Silence.
Maxwell turned toward her.
“What did you just say?”
Sophie pointed toward the newborn.
“That child was born two months earlier.”
Elliot stepped forward.
“Then whose baby is that?”
Bianca started crying.
Luna looked at Maxwell.
“My mom said Bianca needed a baby that looked like your family before the twins were born.”
Maxwell stared at his wife.
“Why?”
Bianca whispered:
“Because your father was getting suspicious.”
Maxwell froze.
“My father?”
Elliot looked at her.
“What does Dad have to do with this?”
Bianca suddenly looked toward the elevator.
The doors opened.
An elderly man stepped onto the rooftop with two attorneys.
Maxwell’s face went pale.
“Dad?”
His father walked forward holding a thick folder.
Then looked at Bianca.
“I told you not to announce anything until the DNA results came back.”
Maxwell stared at him.
“DNA results for who?”
The old man looked at the baby inside.
Then at Elliot.
Then at Maxwell.
And said quietly:
“For all three children.”
Maxwell froze.
“Three?”
His father nodded.
Then placed the folder on the table.
“Because one of them is not Elliot’s.”
Bianca’s face collapsed.
Maxwell stared at her.
“Then whose is it?”
His father opened the folder.
And slowly turned the first page toward Maxwell.
The name printed under BIOLOGICAL FATHER made Maxwell stop breathing.
He looked up at Bianca in horror.
“You had a baby with him?”
Bianca began sobbing.
Elliot grabbed the report.
His face went white.
“No…”
Maxwell looked toward the elevator.
A second man had just arrived.
And the entire rooftop fell silent.
