White flowers covered the front.
Soft music played.
People cried into black handkerchiefs and whispered about what a “tragic loss” I had been.
And in the very first row sat my husband.
Not alone.
Beside him was a woman in a tight black dress, her hand resting possessively on his arm like she had already taken my place.
I stood outside the chapel doors in shock, staring through the glass like a ghost watching her own burial.
Three days earlier, I had woken up in a private clinic after a car crash.
No phone.
No visitors.
No explanation.
The nurse had looked terrified when she realized I was conscious.
“You weren’t supposed to wake up yet,” she whispered.
That was the moment I knew something was wrong.
Then I borrowed her phone and searched my name.
And there it was.
My obituary.
My husband, Daniel, had already announced my death.
He had already planned my funeral.
And somehow… he had moved on before I was even buried.
I should have walked away.
I should have called the police immediately.
But when I saw that woman wearing my diamond bracelet — the one that had disappeared from my jewelry box a month ago — something inside me snapped.
So I pushed open the chapel doors.
The music stopped.
Every head turned.
My mother screamed.
One man dropped the candle he was holding.
And my husband went completely pale.
The woman beside him slowly stood up, staring at me like she had seen the devil.
I took one step forward.
Then another.
And finally I looked straight at Daniel and said:
“If I’m dead… then why is my husband living with my sister?”
The entire church gasped.
My sister’s face drained of color.
Daniel rose so fast his chair slammed backward onto the marble floor.
“Listen to me,” he said, voice shaking. “This is not what you think.”
But then my father stood up from the second row and shouted:
“Open the coffin.”
Silence.
No one moved.
Then two men walked forward and lifted the lid.
And what they found inside made everyone in that church start screaming.
