PART 2 : Adrian stared at the empty chair.

It was still rocking.

Someone had just been sitting there.

“Lock every door,” Adrian ordered.

His security team moved immediately.

Then Leo suddenly pointed toward the hallway.

“Dad… that man gave Grandma an envelope.”

Adrian turned.

“What man?”

Leo pointed toward a side exit.

“The man with the silver cane.”

Adrian’s mother went completely pale.

Emma looked at her.

“You know who he is.”

“No,” the older woman whispered.

But Victoria suddenly laughed.

Not nervously.

Bitterly.

“Oh, stop pretending.”

Everyone turned toward her.

Victoria looked directly at Adrian.

“You want the truth?”

“Start talking.”

She pointed at his mother.

“Ask her who paid me.”

Adrian’s jaw tightened.

“Paid you for what?”

Victoria’s eyes filled with tears.

“To marry you.”

Silence.

Emma stared at her.

Adrian looked as if he had been slapped.

Victoria continued.

“Your mother gave me everything. Money. A house. A place in your company. All I had to do was convince you Emma abandoned you.”

Adrian slowly faced his mother.

“Why?”

His mother’s hands began shaking.

“Because Emma was dangerous.”

Emma stepped forward.

“Dangerous to whom?”

The older woman said nothing.

Then the police officer picked up the envelope she had dropped beside her chair.

Inside was a photograph.

Adrian took it.

His face changed instantly.

The photograph showed Emma in a hospital bed six years earlier.

Beside her stood Adrian’s mother.

And behind them—

the man with the silver cane.

Adrian stared at his mother.

“Who is he?”

She whispered:

“Your father.”

Adrian almost laughed.

“My father died twenty years ago.”

“No.”

Her voice cracked.

“He disappeared.”

Emma stared at the photograph.

Then she suddenly remembered something.

“The hospital.”

Everyone looked at her.

“He was there.”

Adrian stepped closer.

“What?”

“The night they told me Leo died… I saw that man outside my room.”

Victoria backed against the wall.

“This is worse than you think.”

Adrian grabbed her arm.

“What did he want with my son?”

Victoria looked at Leo.

Then at Emma.

“He didn’t want Leo dead.”

Adrian froze.

“But my mother just said—”

“She lied.”

Victoria swallowed.

“Leo wasn’t supposed to die.”

She pointed toward Adrian.

“You were.”

Nobody moved.

Adrian’s face went white.

“What?”

Victoria whispered:

“The surgery, the fake death certificate, Emma disappearing… none of it was about stealing Leo.”

She looked toward the locked restaurant doors.

“It was about getting you alone six years ago.”

Suddenly—

BANG.

A gunshot-like crack echoed from outside.

The lights went out.

Guests screamed.

Adrian grabbed Leo.

When the emergency lights came on, his mother was gone.

So was the photograph.

But on Adrian’s table sat the silver cane.

And wrapped around its handle was a note.

Adrian opened it.

His hands began shaking.

There were only six words:

“YOUR SON ISN’T THE ONLY HEIR.”

Then Emma looked toward the restaurant window—

and saw a little girl standing outside.

She looked exactly like Leo.
