“What bigger lie?”
The woman walked straight toward the altar.
“My name is Lucy. Ryan and I have been married for seven years.”
Guests immediately began whispering.
Emily turned toward Ryan.
“Tell me she’s lying.”
Ryan said nothing.
Lucy pulled a folded document from her purse and handed it to Emily.
It was their marriage certificate.
Dated seven years earlier.
Emily looked at Ryan with tears filling her eyes.
“You were planning to marry me while you were still married to her?”
Ryan finally whispered:
“It’s complicated.”
Lucy laughed bitterly.
“No, Ryan. THIS is complicated.”
She pulled out her phone and showed Emily a photograph.
Emily froze.
The picture had been taken only THREE DAYS before the wedding.
Ryan was kissing another woman.
But it wasn’t Lucy.
Emily stared at the photo.
“Who is she?”
A voice suddenly came from behind the wedding guests:
“I can answer that.”
Everyone turned.
Emily’s own sister was standing there.
Crying.
And then she whispered:
“It’s me.”
