Anna:
“This is fake. I’ve never seen you in my life.”
The man’s expression cracked for the first time.
Man (painfully calm):
“You were told to forget me.”
Thunder rolled outside.
He reached into his coat and pulled out a small, broken music box. When he opened it, a soft melody filled the room.
Anna froze.
Her hands started shaking.
Anna (barely audible):
“…I know that song.”
The man nodded slowly.
Man:
“You’re not lost, Anna. You were taken.”
The bakery lights flickered.
And in that moment, everything she believed about her life began to collapse.
