He ran toward the service corridor while the little girl followed behind him.
The bride screamed for security to stop them, but now even the guards were staring at her suspiciously.
The knocking came again.
BANG.
BANG.
BANG.
Daniel reached a locked storage door in the basement.
“Open it.”
The hotel manager hesitated.
“Sir… your fiancée specifically told us nobody was allowed inside this room.”
Daniel grabbed a fire extinguisher and smashed the lock.
The door swung open.
A woman was sitting on the floor inside.
Her wrists were tied.
Her dress was torn.
Daniel stopped breathing.
It was Elena.
His first wife.
The woman declared legally dead four years earlier.
She looked up at him and whispered:
“Daniel… she told you I abandoned you, didn’t she?”
Upstairs, the bride tried to run.
Security stopped her at the front entrance.
But Elena wasn’t finished.
She reached into her coat and handed Daniel a small flash drive.
“She didn’t lock me down here because I came back.”
Daniel stared at her.
“Then why?”
Elena looked toward the stairs.
“Because I found out who she really is.”
Daniel inserted the flash drive into the hotel manager’s laptop.
A video appeared.
His bride was sitting across from a man Daniel recognized immediately.
His own brother.
Then the recording captured one sentence:
“Once Daniel signs the marriage papers, everything becomes ours.”
Daniel slowly turned toward the ballroom.
And suddenly the wedding wasn’t about betrayal anymore.
It was about who had been planning his downfall for years.
