Rain thundered against the hospital windows.
“Mom…” Emily whispered weakly. “Why are you doing this?”
Julia’s cold smile slowly disappeared.
“Because none of this was supposed to happen,” she said quietly.
Dr. Reeves carefully raised his hands.
“Julia… she deserves the truth.”
“The truth?” Julia snapped. “You think the hospital would let her live if they knew who she really was?”
Emily looked back and forth between them in confusion.
“What does that mean?”
Julia’s eyes filled with panic.
Fourteen years of secrets were collapsing in front of her.
Dr. Reeves slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out an old patient file.
“Emily,” he said softly, “your mother wasn’t poisoning you for money.”
Emily stared at him.
“She was hiding you.”
The room went silent.
Dr. Reeves opened the file with shaking hands.
Inside was a faded newspaper clipping from fourteen years earlier.
INFANT SURVIVES SECRET GOVERNMENT LAB FIRE
Emily’s breathing stopped.
Julia lowered the gun slightly.
Tears finally rolled down her face.
“You were never supposed to survive,” she whispered.
Dr. Reeves looked directly at Emily.
“The neurotoxin wasn’t killing you… it was suppressing something inside your nervous system.”
Suddenly—
Every monitor in the hospital room violently malfunctioned.
The lights flickered.
Emily gasped as unbearable pain shot through her body.
Then every piece of glass in the room exploded outward at once.
Julia screamed.
Dr. Reeves stumbled backward in shock.
And Emily slowly lifted from the wheelchair—
Floating inches above the floor.
Her terrified eyes began glowing bright blue.
Then she looked directly at her mother and whispered:
“What… did you do to me?”
BLACK SCREEN.
