PART 2 : I snatched the envelope out of her hand so hard the papers inside spilled onto the pavement.

Photos.

Receipts.

Hotel bookings.

Bank transfers.

At first, I thought they were proving Daniel had been cheating with Vanessa.

But then I saw the dates.

Some of them went back before I even met him.

I looked up at my sister.
“What is this?”

Her face changed. For the first time, she wasn’t smiling anymore.

Daniel stepped forward, voice shaking.
“Please… let me explain.”

Vanessa screamed,
“No! You’ve lied enough!”

One of the papers was a DNA test appointment confirmation.

Another was a hospital record.

And then I saw the sentence that made my knees almost give out:

Patient requested confidentiality regarding paternity.

I turned to my mother.
She looked like all the blood had drained from her face.

“Mom…” I said slowly. “Why are you crying?”

She started sobbing right there in the church parking lot.

My father shouted, “Somebody tell me what’s going on!”

Vanessa pointed at Daniel, then at me, and finally at our mother.

Then she said the words that destroyed everything:

“Daniel didn’t betray you with me. He was trying to leave you after he found out the truth… that your mother has been hiding who your real father is your entire life.”

The world went silent.

I felt my stomach twist.

My mother grabbed my arm and begged,
“Please, let me explain inside—”

But Vanessa ripped one last paper from the pile and shoved it into my hands.

It was an old birth record.

Not mine.

Hers.

And under “Father’s Name” was the same name listed in a sealed document attached to my own file.

I looked from the paper… to my mother… to Vanessa… and then to Daniel.

“No,” I whispered. “No… no…”

Vanessa’s eyes filled with tears.

“That’s why he was trying to stop this wedding,” she said.
“Because two weeks ago he found out we aren’t just sisters…”

She swallowed hard.

“We’re twins.”
