Sophia grabbed Adrian’s jacket angrily. “Tell me RIGHT NOW what’s happening!”
The older woman slowly walked forward, protecting the newborn in her arms.
Adrian looked terrified for the first time in his life.
“She can’t be here…” he whispered.
The woman in black laughed bitterly. “You thought money could hide everything forever?”
Sophia stared at the baby. “Who is that child?”
The older woman finally spoke.
“This baby belongs to your husband too.”
Sophia felt her knees weaken.
But then—
“No,” Adrian shouted. “That’s impossible!”
The older woman’s expression darkened.
“You really don’t recognize your own daughter?”
The room went silent again.
Adrian stepped closer, confused and shaking.
“What did you just say…?”
Tears rolled down the older woman’s face.
“She’s not only your daughter… she’s Sophia’s sister.”
Sophia’s face turned white.
“What…?”
The woman in black closed her eyes painfully.
“Your father sold us out years ago. Adrian never knew the truth.”
Sophia slowly turned toward Adrian, horrified.
That meant—
Before anyone could speak again, police sirens echoed outside the hotel.
Then the ballroom lights suddenly went out.
And in the darkness, someone screamed:
“THE BABY IS GONE!”
