PART 2 — “The Moment She Remembered”

Security moved closer.

The guests whispered faster.

“This is a setup…”
“She has no children…”
“Who let him in?”

But the boy stepped forward anyway.

Each step louder than the music that had already stopped.

Boy (voice breaking): “You used to sing me to sleep. You said my name every night. Don’t erase me.”

The woman’s breath caught.

For the first time, her perfect posture cracked.

Her hand trembled.

Woman (whisper): “…I hear it.”

The man in the suit shouted:

“Stop him! He’s lying!”

But she lifted her hand slightly—stopping everyone.

Silence swallowed the terrace.

She looked at the boy again.

Not like a stranger.

Like a memory trying to surface through water.

Woman (shaking): “I… remember a light. A hospital. A fire alarm…”

Her eyes filled with tears she didn’t understand.

The boy stepped closer, softer now.

Boy: “You didn’t die. You forgot.”

A long pause.

Then—

she slowly placed her foot on the ground outside the wheelchair.

For the first time in years.

Her body trembled.

She stood.

Barely.

The entire terrace gasped.

And just as her eyes locked with the boy’s—

she whispered something no one else could hear.

Woman: “What did they do to us?”
