No one spoke.
The woman slowly walked toward the witness stand, unable to stop crying.
“My name is Sarah,” she said softly. “Your mother and I grew up together. Before she passed away, she asked me to find you… but I was in another country. By the time I returned, you were gone.”
Ethan stared at her in disbelief.
“No… that’s impossible.”
Sarah reached into her purse and carefully unfolded an old, worn letter.
“It was written by your mother.”
The judge nodded, allowing Ethan to read it.
His hands trembled as he opened the paper.
“If anything ever happens to me… please find my boys. Tell Ethan he was always my hero. Tell Noah that every lullaby I sang was filled with my love. And if they have nowhere else to go… give them the family I never could.”
Ethan burst into tears.
Noah hugged Sarah without saying a word.
The courtroom was crying openly now.
The judge quietly removed his glasses and wiped away his tears.
After a long silence, he smiled.
“The court has made its decision.”
He looked directly at Ethan.
“You kept your promise to your mother.”
Then he turned toward Sarah.
“And today… this family finally comes home.”
For the first time in years, the two brothers smiled through their tears, knowing they would never be alone again.
