Part 2 — The Secret That Destroyed Everything

Silence swallowed the boulevard.

Nobody moved.

Nobody breathed.

Victor Grant stared at the man as if he had seen a ghost.

Because twenty years earlier…

Daniel Hayes had disappeared.

Officially dead.

At least, that’s what everyone had been told.

Daniel took another step forward.

“You stole my company.”

Victor remained frozen.

“You stole my identity.”

The crowd watched in shock.

“And worst of all,” Daniel continued, “you stole my family.”

Liam looked from one man to the other.

Nothing made sense.

Then Liam’s father arrived.

His black SUV screeched to a stop.

He jumped out and stared at Daniel.

His eyes instantly filled with tears.

“Daniel…”

Daniel nodded.

“It’s been a long time, old friend.”

Liam looked at his father.

“You knew he was alive?”

His father lowered his head.

“Yes.”

The crowd gasped.

Victor suddenly turned and ran.

But federal agents poured from the armored SUVs.

“Victor Grant!” one shouted. “Don’t move!”

Victor froze.

Handcuffs clicked around his wrists.

Years of lies had finally caught up to him.

Liam looked at Daniel.

“Why did you come back now?”

Daniel smiled sadly.

“Because someone deserved the truth.”

“Who?”

Daniel reached into his jacket and removed an old photograph.

It showed a young woman holding a baby.

Liam’s eyes widened.

The baby was him.

Daniel’s voice trembled.

“Because I’ve spent twenty years trying to find my son.”

Liam felt the world stop spinning.

The photograph slipped from Daniel’s hand.

And for the first time, Liam realized the impossible truth.

Victor hadn’t tried to silence him because of a business secret.

Victor had tried to silence him because Liam was the one person who could expose everything.

Daniel Hayes wasn’t a stranger.

He was Liam’s real father.
