Part 2 – The Truth Behind the Fire

The courtroom fell silent as Victor slowly pulled a small silver key from his pocket.

He held it up with a smile.

“You mean this key?” he asked calmly.

Ethan’s face turned pale.

“That’s the library key,” he whispered.

The prosecutor frowned.

“Where did you get that?”

Victor hesitated for just a second.

It was enough.

A detective rushed forward and took the key. The serial number matched the missing library lock that investigators had searched for since the night of the fire.

The judge immediately ordered the courtroom doors sealed.

Victor suddenly turned and ran.

He barely reached the exit before two officers tackled him to the ground.

Minutes later, investigators reopened the case.

Victor confessed everything.

He had started the fire to cover up years of financial fraud after Richard Ashford discovered the truth. He locked the library door, believing no one would survive.

But the maid had risked her own life to rescue Ethan.

She was never the murderer.

She was the hero.

As the judge declared her innocent, Ethan quietly walked over and hugged her.

For the first time in over a year, he smiled.

The courtroom erupted in applause—not for justice alone, but for the courage of one little boy whose voice changed everything forever.
