PART 2 — The Truth Beneath the Factory

Within seconds, every rescue truck roared out of the station.

The little girl sat quietly beside Captain Michael, pointing toward the abandoned factory.

“He told me to follow the light,” she whispered.

When the crews reached the collapsed west loading area, thermal cameras detected something impossible.

Three heat signatures.

Not one.

Rescuers tore through twisted steel and broken concrete until they uncovered a narrow air pocket.

Inside sat Noah Bennett, exhausted but alive.

Beside him were two factory workers everyone had already declared dead.

Noah smiled weakly as the rescuers reached him.

“I couldn’t leave them,” he whispered.

Michael pulled him into a tight embrace.

“You stubborn hero…”

But Noah suddenly looked around.

“Where’s Lily?”

Michael smiled.

“She’s right here.”

Noah frowned.

“I haven’t seen Lily since yesterday morning. She was with my sister before I left for work.”

The smile disappeared from everyone’s face.

Michael slowly turned toward the ambulance.

It was empty.

The little girl…

…was gone.

The only thing left on the seat was Noah’s burned helmet.

Tucked inside was a small handwritten note.

Daddy… I told them where you were. Happy birthday. Love, Lily.

No one had seen her leave.

No security camera ever captured her arriving.

And to this day, every firefighter at Station 14 swears the little girl who saved three lives vanished without a trace.
