The entire bank felt different after those words.
Like the air itself had changed.
The officer stepped back slightly. “That’s impossible.”
The manager swallowed hard. “That account… it was sealed years ago. After the founder’s grandson disappeared.”
The boy took a step backward.
“I don’t understand,” he said. “My mother… she never told me any of this.”
The manager’s voice dropped lower.
“What was your mother’s full name?”
The boy hesitated.
“Elaine Carter,” he whispered.
The manager’s hands began to shake again.
“That’s not possible,” he said. “Elaine Carter was the private guardian assigned to the heir before he vanished.”
The officer slowly released the boy completely.
For the first time, no one was holding him.
Silence stretched.

A hidden system inside the bank turned on by itself.
The monitor flashed red.

The boy stared at the screen.
“I… I just wanted food,” he said, his voice barely audible.
