Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
The waitress stared at him in shock.
The manager started shaking.
“S-sir… I can explain…”
The owner slowly looked around the room.
Every guest who had laughed suddenly looked at the floor.
Then he turned back toward the waitress.
A small smile appeared on his face.
“You’re about to become the new general manager.”
The entire restaurant gasped.
“W-what? Me?!” she whispered.
“I spent years building this place,” he said quietly. “Not with money. With people.”
He looked at the former manager.
“And you forgot something important.”
Security walked toward the manager.
“No… please…”
The owner didn’t even look at him.
“Luxury isn’t chandeliers.”
“Luxury isn’t expensive food.”
He looked at the waitress.
“Luxury is how you treat people when they have nothing to give you.”
The waitress began crying.
Across the room, people stood in silence.
Because suddenly…
the richest person there wasn’t the man with money.
It was the woman with kindness.
