Part 2 — The Voice From the Balcony

Security hadn’t arrived yet.

But everyone already knew what was going to happen.

Juliette stood frozen in the center of the courtyard, her breathing uneven, eyes darting between Christopher and Emma.

Emma suddenly spoke.

Her voice was small. Broken.

“She told me Grandma said I shouldn’t live here anymore…”

A collective silence dropped.

Because there was only one “Grandma” that mattered in the Pierce estate.

Estelle Pierce.

Christopher’s mother.

The woman who never entered the courtyard… but controlled everything from the upper balcony.

Juliette panicked instantly.

“She’s confused! She’s a child—she doesn’t understand—”

Yvette stepped forward again.

“There’s more.”

Christopher didn’t hesitate this time.

“Play it.”

The second recording began.

A different tone now.

Juliette again… but softer, calculated.

“Estelle, she’s becoming a problem. The child is too attached to Christopher.”

A pause.

Then another voice entered.

Older.

Sharpened by authority.

Estelle.

“Then make sure the little problem never reaches the lawyers.”

The world stopped.

Even the wind felt gone.

Juliette collapsed into tears instantly.

“No—no, that’s edited! That’s not real!”

But no one moved to help her.

Not even the staff who had once feared her.

Christopher looked down at Emma.

Her face buried in his chest. Small. Terrified. Alive.

And something inside him finally broke open.

Not anger.

Clarity.

Everything Juliette had done… the isolation, the discipline, the fear Emma carried in silence—it all suddenly had shape.

“She wasn’t difficult,” Christopher whispered.

“She was being targeted.”

Security finally arrived.

Juliette was escorted away, screaming that it was all a lie, that she was being framed.

But as she was pulled toward the gates… she looked up.

Toward the balcony.

A curtain moved.

Just once.

Then stopped.

Perfectly still.

Christopher tightened his grip on Emma and turned away from the house that had almost taken her.

Because saving her from the pool…

was only the beginning.

And now he understood the terrifying truth:

The real danger wasn’t gone.

It was still inside the family.
