Part 2 : The woman turned toward the boy.

Anger filled her eyes.

At first.

Then everything changed.

The boy looked up.

Just once.

Just long enough for her to see him clearly.

His bright blue eyes.

The tiny scar beneath his left eyebrow.

The scar she knew better than her own reflection.

Her breath caught in her throat.

The world around her seemed to stop moving.

The alley vanished.

The traffic disappeared.

Even the sound of her daughter’s voice faded away.

All she could see was that scar.

That face.

A face she had searched for every day for six endless years.

Her purse slipped from her hand and crashed onto the pavement.

The boy stared at her.

Confused.

Afraid.

The woman began shaking.

Tears instantly filled her eyes.

“No…” she whispered.

The boy took a step backward.

His heart pounded.

Something about this stranger felt strangely familiar.

Then she whispered words he never expected to hear.

“Ethan…”

The boy froze.

No one had called him that name in years.

Not since the day he was separated from his family during a crowded city evacuation after a terrible apartment fire.

The shelters had lost records.

Authorities had searched.

His mother had searched.

But somehow they never found each other.

Until now.

The boy’s lips trembled.

A memory surfaced.

A gentle voice singing lullabies.

Soft hands tucking him into bed.

A woman kissing the scar above his eyebrow after he fell from his bicycle.

His eyes widened.

“Mom?” he whispered.

The woman collapsed to her knees.

A broken sob escaped her chest.

“My baby…”

She reached for his face with trembling hands.

“I finally found you.”

The sandwich slipped from Ethan’s fingers.

Tears streamed down his cheeks.

For years he had dreamed of hearing those words.

For years he believed nobody was looking for him.

Believed he had been forgotten.

But now his mother was holding him as if she would never let go again.

The little girl stood nearby, crying too.

“He’s my brother?” she asked softly.

The woman nodded through tears.

“Yes.”

The girl smiled and ran forward.

This time all three of them hugged each other.

Passersby slowed down.

Some stopped completely.

Many wiped tears from their eyes as they watched the impossible reunion.

In the middle of a cold alley where people usually looked away, a family found each other again.

And Ethan finally understood something he had forgotten long ago:

He had never been abandoned.

He had always been loved.

His family had simply never stopped searching until they found him.
