PART 2 — The Worst Mistake Of Tal’s Life

Silence filled the diner.

Tal stared at Elias as if he had seen a ghost.

“You… you’re President Ward?” he stammered.

Elias stood slowly.

Without his cane.

Without any sign of weakness.

The agents immediately surrounded him.

Mia couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

For years, rumors had circulated about former President Elias Ward disappearing from public life after leaving office.

No one knew where he went.

Now he was standing in her diner.

Tal forced a laugh.

“This is some kind of joke.”

The lead agent placed a folder on the table.

Inside were photographs.

Security footage.

Witness statements.

Evidence of Tal’s crimes stretching back years.

Tal’s smile disappeared.

“What is this?”

Elias looked directly into his eyes.

“The reason I came here.”

Tal’s face turned white.

For months, Elias had secretly traveled across the country gathering evidence against criminal organizations that local authorities were too afraid to touch.

Tal’s gang had been his final target.

Red and blue police lights suddenly flooded the diner windows.

Dozens of police vehicles surrounded the building.

Bikers rushed toward the exits.

Too late.

Officers poured inside.

Handcuffs clicked.

Shouts echoed.

Within minutes, the gang was finished.

Tal was dragged toward the door.

“You set me up!” he screamed.

Elias calmly adjusted his jacket.

“No, Tal.”

He glanced at the broken glass still sitting on the table.

“You destroyed yourself the moment you believed nobody could stop you.”

Tal was led away.

The diner erupted into applause.

Mia looked at Elias in disbelief.

“Why come here alone?”

Elias smiled.

“Because the character of a person is revealed by how they treat someone who appears powerless.”

Outside, the rain finally stopped.

Sunlight broke through the clouds.

And for the first time in years, Millie’s Diner felt safe.
