Martin could barely speak.

“What do you mean?”

Daniel pulled an old photograph from his coat and placed it beside the shoes.

Martin froze.

The photo showed Daniel as a child… standing beside a woman Martin recognized immediately.

Daniel’s mother.

But there was someone else in the picture.

Martin himself.

Daniel pointed to him.

“My mother told me the truth before she died.”

Martin’s face drained of color.

“What truth?”

Daniel’s voice cracked.

“She said you weren’t just the shoemaker who helped us.”

Martin stepped backward.

Daniel continued.

“She said you were my father.”

The room went silent except for the rain hammering against the window.

Martin shook his head.

“No… that’s impossible.”

Daniel slammed a sealed DNA report onto the counter.

“I already checked.”

Martin stared at the envelope but didn’t touch it.

Then Daniel said the sentence that shattered everything.

“My mother didn’t leave you, Martin.”

Martin slowly looked up.

“She was paid to disappear.”

“Paid by who?”

Daniel’s jaw tightened.

“Your brother.”

Martin stopped breathing.

Daniel pushed the building keys toward him.

“He took your family. He took your inheritance. And for thirty years, he made sure you believed they were gone.”

Martin whispered:

“Why would he do that?”

Daniel’s eyes hardened.

“Because this building isn’t the only thing I bought today.”

Martin stared at him.

Daniel leaned closer.

“I bought his company too.”

And by morning, the man who had stolen Martin’s entire life was going to lose everything.
