He didn’t care about the expensive suit, the pristine carpet, or Vanessa watching behind him. None of it mattered.
“Olivia… look at me,” he said, his voice breaking.
Slowly, she did.
Tears blurred her vision. Weeks had passed since she had last seen him. Weeks since she had been told he chose someone else. That there was no place for her. No place for their child.
His eyes fell to her stomach.
Then back to her face.
And fear took over completely.
“Please…” he whispered. “Tell me the baby is okay.”
Olivia tried to speak. Her lips trembled.
Nothing came.
Vanessa stepped forward, her composure cracking. “Damian, listen—”
“Don’t.”
The word came out low. Dangerous.
It silenced the room.
Olivia swallowed hard. Her whole body shook under the weight of everything she had carried alone. The lies. The isolation. The fear.
“Sir…” she finally whispered. “The baby…”
“She was going to tell you it’s yours!”
Vanessa’s voice cut through her.
Sharp. Desperate.
The world stopped.
Damian turned his head slowly toward Vanessa.
Then back to Olivia.
Something changed in his expression.
Not surprise.
Recognition.
“She told me you thought we were dead,” Olivia said, her voice barely there.
Silence.
Heavy. Crushing.
Damian’s face drained of color.
“What… did you say?”
Olivia’s tears finally fell.
“She told me you knew,” she continued, each word breaking. “She said you didn’t want us. That you chose your fiancée. That we had to disappear.”
Vanessa went pale.
“That’s not—”
“Enough!” Damian snapped.
He stood abruptly, his entire presence turning cold and terrifying.
“You lied to me,” he said, looking straight at Vanessa. “You told me they were gone. That the accident—”
His voice broke.
“You told me they didn’t survive.”
The truth settled into the room like a storm.
Olivia lowered her head, one hand still holding her stomach, as if protecting the last piece of truth she had left.
Damian looked at her again.
This time, with something deeper than fear.
Rage.
Not at her.
At everything that had been stolen.
He stepped closer, more carefully now, as if she might break.
“No one is leaving this house,” he said quietly. “Not until I know everything.”
Vanessa took a step back.
For the first time—
She looked afraid.
And Olivia, still trembling on the floor, realized something had finally changed.
She was no longer invisible.
And the truth… was no longer hers to carry alone.
