Part 2 : The ballroom was completely silent.

Sophia held the document high enough for everyone to see.

“I am the firstborn daughter of Richard Hawthorne,” she said.

The guests exchanged stunned looks.

Isabella shook her head.

“No. That’s impossible.”

Sophia handed the papers to one of the family attorneys standing nearby.

The man adjusted his glasses and began reading.

His expression changed immediately.

Then changed again.

Finally, he looked up.

“It’s authentic.”

The room erupted.

“What?”

“No way!”

“She’s telling the truth!”

Isabella’s knees nearly gave out.

She turned toward her mother.

“Mom… tell them this isn’t real.”

But Eleanor couldn’t.

Tears streamed down her face.

Twenty-five years of lies were finally catching up to her.

“I was afraid,” Eleanor whispered.

The crowd fell silent once more.

“Afraid of what?” Isabella demanded.

Eleanor closed her eyes.

“When Richard died, his will left everything to Sophia… not you.”

A wave of shock swept through the ballroom.

Sophia stood motionless.

Eleanor continued.

“You disappeared during the fire. Everyone believed you were dead.”

Sophia’s voice trembled.

“But I wasn’t.”

“No.”

“Then why didn’t you bring me home?”

Eleanor lowered her head.

“Because if you returned… Isabella would lose everything.”

The confession shattered the room.

Guests stared in disbelief.

Isabella looked as though the floor had vanished beneath her feet.

Everything she owned.

Everything she believed.

Everything she had inherited.

It had never been hers.

Sophia slowly approached her.

For a moment, neither sister spoke.

Then Isabella asked the question everyone was thinking.

“Why come back now?”

Sophia wiped away a tear.

“Because someone finally told me the truth.”

She reached into her purse and removed a second envelope.

A much larger one.

Eleanor’s eyes widened in horror.

“No…”

Sophia looked around the ballroom.

“This document contains the names of everyone who helped hide me for twenty-five years.”

The guests gasped.

Several powerful businessmen immediately turned pale.

One woman rushed toward the exit.

Sophia smiled sadly.

“The police already have copies.”

Panic exploded throughout the ballroom.

And as sirens began echoing outside Hawthorne Manor, Isabella realized this birthday party would be remembered forever.

Not as her celebration.

But as the night the Hawthorne empire fell apart.
