PART 2 — “The Boy Who Shouldn’t Exist”

Adrian ran through the crowded ballroom.

“WAIT!”

Guests moved aside as he chased the mysterious boy through golden hallways and into the rain-soaked streets outside the hotel.

But the child was gone.

Only one thing remained on the wet pavement:

A silver bracelet.

Adrian froze.

His hands started shaking.

He knew that bracelet.

He buried it with his daughter ten years ago.

Thunder exploded overhead.

“No…” Adrian whispered.

Suddenly, a voice spoke behind him.

“You finally stood up.”

Adrian turned sharply.

The boy stood beneath the streetlight, rain pouring around him.

“Who are you?” Adrian demanded.

The child tilted his head slightly.

“You already know.”

Adrian’s heart pounded violently.

“That’s impossible.”

The boy stepped closer.

“When your daughter died… you blamed yourself.”

Adrian’s eyes filled with tears.

“You were driving too fast,” the boy continued.
“You survived.”
“She didn’t.”

“STOP!” Adrian screamed.

Rain mixed with tears on his face.

The boy’s voice softened.

“So you punished yourself.”

Adrian collapsed to his knees.

“I tried to save her…”

“I know,” the boy whispered.

For the first time, Adrian looked directly into the child’s eyes.

Same eyes.

Same smile.

Same tiny scar near the eyebrow.

His daughter’s scar.

Adrian’s voice broke completely.

“Emily…?”

The boy smiled sadly.

Then the streetlights flickered.

And suddenly—

the boy was gone.

Only the bracelet remained in Adrian’s hand.

Adrian looked up into the rain, shaking.

Then he heard one final whisper behind him.

“You can live again now, Dad.”
