Part 2: The girl couldn’t breathe…

Whatever she saw in his hand… wasn’t money.

It wasn’t food.

It was a small worn photograph.

Her mother.

Younger. Smiling. Standing right next to the man in the suit.

The girl’s voice broke:

“…You know her?”

The man didn’t answer right away.

He just looked at the baby in her arms.

Then back at her.

And finally said:

“I’ve been looking for you… for a long time.”

Silence swallowed the store.

The clerk froze.

The milk carton slipped slightly in her hands.

And then—

The man stood up and said the words that changed everything:

“You’re not alone anymore.”
