The consultant’s hands began to shake.
“If the real necklace is here…” one customer whispered, “…then whose necklace was in the backpack?”
The manager picked it up carefully.
“It’s a fake.”
The entire showroom erupted with shocked voices.
The consultant tried to stand.
“You don’t understand!”
But security had already surrounded her.
A hidden security camera was replayed on a large monitor.
Everyone watched in disbelief as the consultant secretly slipped the fake necklace into the young woman’s backpack while pretending to help her.
The room exploded with outrage.
“You framed her!”
“Unbelievable!”
The consultant collapsed into tears.
Then an investigator entered the showroom.
He looked at the quiet young woman and smiled.
“Thank you for staying calm, Captain.”
The crowd froze.
“Captain?”
The investigator nodded.
“She served eight years in the Army before joining our undercover anti-fraud unit.”
The customers who had mocked her lowered their heads in embarrassment.
The young woman picked up her backpack, looked around the silent showroom, and said,
“The easiest person to blame is usually the one nobody takes the time to know.”
She walked toward the exit as police officers handcuffed the consultant.
The phones that had recorded her humiliation were now recording her innocence.
And by morning, the entire country knew who the real criminal had been.
