PART 2 — “The Truth She Never Told”

The world seemed to fall silent.

The fountain continued to flow, but the father heard nothing except the pounding of his own heart.

He stared at Ethan, unable to speak.

Finally, he whispered,

“What… what was your mother’s name?”

Ethan answered softly.

“Emma.”

The name hit him like a wave.

Twenty years ago, Emma had disappeared without saying goodbye.

He had searched for months before convincing himself she had simply moved on.

He never knew she had been pregnant.

Tears filled his eyes.

“Where is your mom?”

Ethan looked down at the paper bag.

“She died three weeks ago.”

The words shattered him.

“Before she passed away, she gave me this picture and told me if I ever found the man in it… I should ask if he was my dad.”

Lily quietly slipped her hand into Ethan’s.

“You can stay with us,” she said with the simple kindness only a child could offer.

The father dropped to his knees and wrapped both children in his arms, tears streaming down his face.

“I spent seven years not knowing you existed,” he whispered.

“I’m so sorry.”

For the first time in his life, Ethan smiled.

Not because all the pain had disappeared.

But because, after years of wondering who he was…

He finally knew he wasn’t alone anymore.
