People screamed.
Darkness swallowed the restaurant.
A few seconds later, emergency lights flickered red across the room.
The mysterious woman was gone.
“Find her!” the elegant woman shouted desperately.
Guests stared in confusion.
The little boy wasn’t moving.
He simply looked down at the ribbon in his hand.
Then—
a voice came from behind the woman.
“You still wear it.”
Her entire body froze.
Slowly… painfully slowly… she turned around.
Standing near the fountain was the mysterious woman.
Tears rolled down her face.
“I waited eight years,” she said quietly.
The elegant woman’s lips trembled.
“No…”
The little boy looked between them.
“Mom?”
Silence.
Then the elegant woman dropped to her knees.
Because the woman standing in front of her wasn’t dead.
It was her sister.
The sister she had abandoned years ago.
And the little boy—
was her son.
