PART 2 : Clara ripped the envelope open.

Inside was a handwritten note and a tiny brass key.

The first sentence made her knees nearly collapse.

“Clara, if you’re reading this, Victor failed to keep me quiet.”

Victor suddenly lunged forward.

“Give me that!”

Clara stepped backward.

For the first time in four years, she was standing without his help.

She kept reading.

“Your accident wasn’t an accident.”

The guests gasped.

Clara looked at Victor.

“What does that mean?”

Victor said nothing.

The boy finally spoke.

“My mother wrote that letter.”

Clara stared at him.

“Your mother?”

The boy nodded.

“Evelyn Hale.”

Clara’s face drained of color.

“My sister is dead.”

“No,” the boy whispered. “She’s alive.”

Victor shouted:

“HE’S LYING!”

But the boy pulled a photograph from inside his jacket.

It showed Evelyn alive—holding the same boy—only three months earlier.

Clara covered her mouth.

Then she looked at the brass key.

On it was an engraved number:

ROOM 417.

The gala was being held inside Victor’s own luxury hotel.

Clara turned toward him.

“What’s in Room 417?”

Victor backed away.

“Clara, don’t.”

That was all she needed to hear.

She marched toward the elevators with dozens of guests following behind her.

Victor chased after them.

“STOP HER!”

But nobody moved.

When Clara reached the fourth floor, she pushed the key into Room 417.

The door opened.

Inside were boxes of medical records, bottles of prescription pills…

and photographs of Clara being secretly given injections while unconscious.

Then a weak voice came from the darkness.

“Clara?”

She froze.

A thin woman stepped forward.

Clara started sobbing.

“Evelyn?”

Her supposedly dead sister was standing right in front of her.

Evelyn pointed at Victor.

“He kept me hidden because I discovered what he was putting in your medicine.”

Clara turned slowly toward her husband.

“You poisoned me?”

Victor’s mouth opened—

but before he could answer, police sirens screamed outside.

The little boy smiled through tears.

“I called them before I came into the ballroom.”

Minutes later, Victor Hale walked through his own billionaire gala in handcuffs while every guest watched.

And as police led him away, Evelyn leaned toward Clara and whispered one final sentence:

“Victor wasn’t working alone.”

Clara stopped.

“Who else knew?”

Evelyn looked toward someone standing silently among the guests.

Someone Clara trusted more than anyone.

Her own doctor.
