Part 2 : The restaurant owner, Daniel Madden, stared at his father.

“Dad… what are you talking about?”

Walter slowly stood.

“I came here tonight because someone told me employees at my restaurants were being humiliated, underpaid, and fired for helping people.”

Victor immediately interrupted.

“Sir, she broke company rules—”

Walter turned toward him.

“I wrote those rules.”

Victor went silent.

Walter continued.

“And there is no rule against feeding a hungry person with your own food.”

Customers inside began recording through the windows.

Victor’s face was burning.

Then Walter looked at Daniel.

“I gave you control of this restaurant because I thought you would protect the people working for us.”

Daniel lowered his eyes.

Walter pulled a folded document from inside his coat.

“I was going to leave you my controlling shares.”

Daniel froze.

Victor looked sick.

Walter continued:

“But tonight I found the person who deserves them more.”

He handed the document to Emily.

Her hands trembled.

“I don’t understand…”

Walter smiled.

“My wife started this company with me forty-two years ago. She always said character is revealed by what you do when nobody can reward you.”

Then he looked directly at Victor.

“You thought she was powerless.”

Walter paused.

“You were wrong.”

Daniel suddenly stepped toward his father.

“You can’t seriously give a waitress part of the company!”

Walter’s expression hardened.

“I can.”

Then he looked at Emily.

“And I just did.”

Victor tried to walk back inside.

Walter stopped him.

“Not so fast.”

Two security officers appeared at the entrance.

Walter held up his phone.

“I checked the security footage while you were insulting her.”

Victor’s face drained of color.

Walter continued:

“And I found something far worse than a wrongful firing.”

Daniel whispered:

“What did you find?”

Walter turned the phone around.

On the screen were months of payroll records.

Missing employee wages.

Fake overtime adjustments.

Money transferred into an account registered under Victor’s name.

Daniel stared at Victor.

“You stole from us?”

Victor backed away.

“It’s not what it looks like.”

Walter gave a cold smile.

“That’s exactly what it looks like.”

Minutes later, police walked through the restaurant doors.

Victor was led away in handcuffs while every employee watched.

Emily stood speechless in the rain.

Walter handed her back the name tag Victor had thrown on the ground.

“You said you’d do it again.”

Emily nodded.

Walter smiled.

“Good.”

“Because starting tomorrow, I want someone like you helping me run this place.”
