Emma’s breath caught in her throat as the billionaire tightened his grip around Leo.
For a second, nobody moved.
Then he stood up so suddenly his chair crashed backward.
“That’s impossible,” he said.
But Emma was already crying too hard to hide it.
“You told me my baby died,” she whispered. “You told me he never survived.”
Leo looked from his father to Emma, confused and scared.
“Dad… who is she?”
The billionaire’s face collapsed.
Not with anger.
With guilt.
The kind of guilt a man carries when one lie destroys an entire life.
He looked at Emma with shaking eyes.
“I searched for you for years,” he said. “The night of the fire, they told me you were gone. My mother took Leo from the hospital before I could even see you. She said you abandoned us… that you didn’t want him…”
Emma nearly fell trying to stand.
“That’s a lie.”
And that was when an older woman at the back of the restaurant suddenly dropped her glass.
Every head turned.
She was pale.
Frozen.
Terrified.
Leo pointed at her.
“Grandma?”
Emma followed his gaze—and recognized the face instantly.
The same woman who had looked her in the eyes years ago and told her her baby was dead.
The billionaire turned slowly toward his mother.
She stepped back.
“Adrian… listen to me—”
But he was already shaking with rage.
“You stole my son’s mother from him?”
Leo’s little hand slipped into Emma’s.
And for the first time in years, she felt the truth alive in her own skin.
But before anyone could speak again, the old woman screamed:
“You don’t understand—if she remembers what really happened that night, all of us are finished!”
And that was the moment Emma realized the lie about her son was only the beginning.
Because someone hadn’t just stolen her child…
Someone had tried to erase her entire life.
