“You lying little psychopath,” she hissed, pointing at Claire from the doorway. “You planned this to ruin our wedding!”
Claire didn’t even blink.
Her daughter slept peacefully in her arms while million-dollar chaos unfolded around her hospital bed.
Daniel stepped closer slowly, like he was approaching a loaded weapon.
“How old is she?” he asked.
“Seven hours.”
His jaw tightened.
Seven hours.
That meant Claire had been pregnant during the divorce hearings.
During the property settlement.
During every cruel accusation he made in court.
And she never told him.
Vanessa grabbed Daniel’s arm violently.
“She trapped you! Don’t you get it?!”
But Daniel wasn’t listening anymore.
He was staring at the baby’s face with growing horror.
Because now he noticed details only a father would recognize.
The tiny dimple in her chin.
The dark hair.
The birthmark near her shoulder identical to his own.
“Oh my God…” he whispered.
Claire finally looked him directly in the eyes.
“You called me mentally unstable in court while your daughter was growing inside me.”
Vanessa’s expression cracked.
“What daughter?”
Daniel turned toward her slowly.
And for the first time, Vanessa looked afraid.
“You knew she wanted children,” Vanessa said desperately. “She probably slept with someone else after the divorce!”
Claire calmly reached into the bedside drawer and removed a sealed envelope.
Hospital DNA documents.
Prepared weeks ago.
She handed them to Daniel.
His fingers trembled as he opened them.
Then all the color drained from his face.
99.9999% probability.
Vanessa staggered backward.
“No…”
Daniel looked physically sick.
Because suddenly every detail of the divorce became dangerous.
If Claire proved he manipulated proceedings while knowingly abandoning a pregnant wife, the court could reopen everything.
The company shares.
The settlement.
Even fraud investigations.
Vanessa grabbed the papers and screamed:
“THIS BABY JUST DESTROYED OUR LIVES!”
The newborn woke instantly and started crying.
Daniel instinctively moved toward the baby—
But Claire pulled her daughter closer.
“No,” she said coldly. “You don’t get to become a father because your conscience finally woke up.”
Outside the room, hospital staff and guests from the wedding were gathering, whispering.
Someone was recording.
Vanessa suddenly ripped the diamond ring off her finger and threw it at Daniel’s chest.
“You said she was obsessed with you!” she screamed. “You said she was CRAZY!”
Daniel said nothing.
Because for the first time in his life…
…the man who always controlled the story had lost control of the room.
Claire looked down at her daughter, kissed her forehead gently, and whispered:
“You and I survived them both.”
Then she looked back up at the two people who betrayed her.
And smiled while their perfect wedding collapsed in real time.
